Heat Press Batting Together is 1-1/2in x 15 yard roll cloth tape that will fuse two edges of batting together. It's soft, its thin, it stretches, its needle easy for hand or machine quilting. This can be used on any batting fabric content. Directions for using HEAT Press Batting Together: Iron Settings are Most Important when applying tape. Irons with Teflon plates can use low cotton to fuse tape. Irons without a teflon plate use the new instructions below. - Test your iron with Tape and batting. 100% polyester batting...low setting.. (high synthetic) and slide the heat of the iron across the batting quickly. - If needed use an appliqué sheet over the tape on the high loft 100% polyester. - Test all synthetic mixed battings – usually a wool setting works well - You may find that the batting looks flat after application with the heat but when it cools the batting is fluffy again. - With a large quilt batting 93” and adding more width, I use weights on either side of the batting to hold it in place - Simply lay tape over cut edges and slide the iron over the tape without any pressure – “smooth out the tape” with the heat of the iron. The batting tape needs only be applied to one side of the batting. It holds through washings and dry cleanings. It doesn’t gum up the needles and can be stitched by hand or by any machine. This lightweight stabilizer won’t gum up your machine, or add bulk to your project. • Machine quilting – easily add a piece of batting to a project where needed. • Hand quilting – soft enough you won’t even notice when needling through. • Stabilize seams, bias edges, and straight hems. • Reinforce edges of bags, tote bag handles, and other craft projects. • Works with all batting types. Protect your work surface accordingly. Use Instructions: Note* It is always recommended to test the product on a scrap piece from your project before applying to the entire piece so you can adjust pressing times and heat as needed. 1. Preheat your iron to a medium or wool setting with no steam. 2. If using scraps of batting, it’s best to overlap their edges by a few inches and cut a wavy line through both pieces at the same time. Discard the scraps, and smooth the batting back together before applying batting tape. 3. For best results, try to keep the newly cut edges no less the 1/2in from the edges of the tape. 4. Place the rough side – or glue side – against the batting. Cover with a light pressing cloth, or Teflon sheet. Press and hold the iron in place for 8-10 seconds. Repeat by lifting the iron and placing it over the next area, slightly overlapping the first until the entire line is bonded together. 5. Allow to cool before testing adhesion, and repeat pressing if necessary. 6. Proceed with quilting to complete project. Description
